The I-PEX MHF-TI® connector has excellent vibration/shock resistance to ensure stable signal transmission in vehicles. It is ideal for connecting telematics, infotainment, and driver monitoring systems.MHF-TI® Compact and Rugged RF Connectors for Automotive Telematics and Infotainment Systems.
Currently, various development and demonstration experiments are being conducted for the practical application of autonomous driving systems. Vehicles and logistics/mobility services utilizing automated driving technology can achieve higher value-added mobility and meet the needs and applications of the corresponding regions. Automobile companies are not only conducting fully automated driving on highways (SAE Level 4) and driverless driving in defined areas, but are also conducting research on reducing traffic accidents and congestion (economic development) and securing transportation in the region (society), and installing telematics, infotainment, and driver monitoring systems are necessary to solve the problems. The connection between TCUs (Telematics Control Units) and telematics, such as communication systems like GPS and V2X, the connection of infotainment systems with wireless signals, such as Bluetooth, etc., and the connection with driver monitoring systems for facial/voice recognition are applications that require cables and connectors that are highly secure and resistant to vibrations specific to the vehicle.
To meet these needs, I-PEX has developed the MHF®-TI RF connector. This connector supports frequency bands up to 6GHz and can transmit GPS, V2X and Bluetooth signals. In addition, it transmits video signals over a single coaxial cable using the video signal standard NTSC (Television Systems Committee), and it can be used as a connector for connecting cameras for facial/voice authentication. Suitable coaxial cables are 50Ω 1.5D-2V and RG174.
MHF®-TI, our unique features 1. high insertion retention force (guaranteed value: 80N) 2. compact and space-saving construction
1. High insertion retention force (guaranteed value: 80 N) As described in the German standard coaxial cable connector FAKRA standard, connectors and cable harnesses with high retention force are required for use in in-vehicle equipment. In order to prevent poor contact or disconnection during vibration, a mechanical latch is used so that when the male chassis is inserted, a clicking sound is heard and it is confirmed that it is securely latched.
- The holding force in the X, Y and Z directions is a guaranteed value of 80N, giving the product excellent resistance to vibration and impact. - The mechanical locking mechanism is suitable for applications with higher levels of security, including those requiring higher cable retention forces.
2. Compact and space-saving
We have miniaturized this connector by reducing the number of parts. Due to the low mating height at the board end, the connector does not significantly affect the size of the application. Additionally, the small board footprint increases the R&D and design freedom for engineering designers. The MHF-TI® connector is ideal for applications that require high mating retention, a small footprint, and space-saving features to ensure consistent mating retention. This connector helps meet the needs of a safe, reliable and comfortable mobile society that will connect "cars" and "everything" in the future.
