A. RJ45 connector plating can be divided into which kinds? Nickel is generally used as a base layer for gold plating, and most of the steel contacts are nickel plated (copper plating is necessary first). Palladium's conductivity is poorer than gold, and in some limited scope cases most use palladium instead of gold plating. Compared with gold, palladium has high resistance, low heat transfer and poor corrosion resistance, but has an advantage in friction resistance. Palladium-nickel alloys (80~20) are generally used in connector terminals. At present, the price of gold continues to rise, and more and more products are plated with palladium-nickel alloy. Silver-plated contacts have very good electrical conductivity, but silver is easy to oxidize, so only in special circumstances to choose. (3) out of corrosion prevention, improve the electrical properties of the connection, reduce temperature rise and other considerations, now the RJ45 connector basically need to be plated.
