The optimization of the electrical properties can be considered in terms of the control of the already existing and to be formed films on the surface of the contact plating. A major requirement for the electrical performance of the pin header bus is to establish and maintain a stable pin header bus impedance. To achieve this, a metal contact interface is required to provide such inherent stability. The establishment of such a contact interface requires that the surface film be able to avoid or split during contact mating. These two different options clarify the difference between precious or rare metals and common metals. To varying degrees, precious metal coatings (such as gold, palladium, and their alloys) are intrinsically free of the surface film. It is relatively simple for these coatings to create an interfacial metal contact because it requires only the concomitant movement of the contacting surfaces upon mating. Usually this is easy to achieve. In order to maintain the stability of contact interface impedance, the design of pin and busbar should pay attention to the noble metal properties of the contact surface to prevent the influence of external factors such as pollutants, the diffusion of base metal and contact wear. Ordinary metal coatings, especially tin or tin alloys, are naturally covered with a thin film of oxide. The function of the tin contact coating is that this oxide layer is easily destroyed at the time of mating, so that the metal contact is easily established. The design requirement of the pin and busbar is to ensure that the oxide film is broken when the pin and busbar are matched, and to ensure that the contact interface is not oxidized within the validity period of the electric connection holder. Re-oxidation corrosion is the most important degradation mechanism of tin contact coatings in wear corrosion. The pin and busbar silver contact coating is preferably treated as a common metal coating because the coating is susceptible to corrosion by sulfides and chlorides. Nickel plating is also generally considered to be a common metal due to the formation of gas valve passages.
