The 12 VHPWR connector is not designed to work with the legacy PCI Express 2x3 and 2x4 12 V auxiliary power connectors. 12 VHPWR connector power pins are spaced 3.00 mm apart, while the contacts in the legacy 2x3 and 2x4 connectors have a much larger spacing of 4.20 mm. This PCIe connector system (CEM-5) is designed for power applications with current ratings up to 9.5 A/pin (12 pins energized) and four signal pins to support signaling.
