All key components are made of Valox material with extensive fiberglass reinforcement. These connectors are NEMA 4X and IP69k compliant, eliminating dust and water intrusion in a variety of harsh industrial environments. They automatically seal when connected, and the receptacle cover and plug close and seal when disconnected. They are UL 2682 switch rated to 600 VAC (greater). Unlike standard connectors, switch-rated devices listed in UL 2682 can be used as switches and to disconnect loads when energized. When operated with a load, they can withstand arcing discharges generated between the male and female contacts without damage. The plug remains connected to the receptacle during operation, so the user is completely isolated from electrical energy. After the circuit is interrupted, the user must use a twisting motion to remove the plug.UL testing requires that these energized switches withstand 6,000 switching cycles. UL testing requires that this energized switch withstand 6,000 switching cycles, which is a good indication that the connector will be used for many years in typical industrial applications.
