Rosenberger Launches Board-to-Board Connectors for RF Connectors

1.Typical PCB to PCB applications.

Connectors between the PCB and PCB boards are called RF inter-board connectors. The figure above is a typical inter-board connection schematic, the PCB board is divided into upper and lower two pieces, each soldered with an RF coaxial connector, connected through the middle of the adapter bar. Because the connection between the PCB board requires three RF coaxial connectors, usually also known as the three-piece solution. In the inter-board connection scheme, considering the installation scenario, the lower board is set as the locking end and the upper board is set as the sliding end. The intermediate adapter is assembled at the locking end and the sliding end is mated to the adapter from top to bottom. The inter-plate connection scheme has axial and radial tolerances to adapt to the misalignment of the upper and lower plates as well as the height error in practical applications, and realizes a reliable connection and guarantees the RF performance within the allowable axial and radial tolerances of the connector.

2. Rosenberger's typical three-piece program is the SMP series, including: SMP, long wipe SMP, Mini SMP, P SMP:

●SMP: With significant axial radial tolerance, it belongs to the basic version of SMP series products. ●Long Wipe SMP (LW SMP for short): Derived from SMP in order to accommodate larger axial tolerances and used in large quantities by major OEMs, it has been the mainstream product for the past decade. ●Mini SMP: Available for higher frequency applications with cutoff frequency up to 40 GHz and smaller size. ●P SMP: It can provide higher power withstand values, and is a good choice for high power application scenarios.

Remarks:1, PCB board connector performance needs to be based on different PCB board stacking recommended suitable pads, standing wave/return loss affected by the PCB board.2, power capacity value can be based on the customer's actual scenarios for testing, the table is the average power at room temperature.
