JAE|Japan Avionics Launches MX72F Series Straight Explosion Tube Connectors with Ground Terminal for Automotive Airbags

Japan Aviation Electronics (JAE) has launched the MX72F Series straight bursting tube connector with ground terminal for automotive airbags, which conforms to the interface standard for bursting tube connectors with ground terminal(*1) that is common in Europe.

The MX72F series inline connector is an exploding tube connector with a ground terminal that realizes grounding by connecting the connector to the side of the inflator, for example, inside the seat, where previously a separate component had to be used to provide functionality for grounding, but now the connector can be assembled on the inflator side of the seat to make the ground connection. The product is a self-retracting connector with a half-mating prevention mechanism utilizing spring reaction force, and the integrity of this feature has also been verified in the MX72A/B and MX72C/D series currently on sale. In addition to eliminating the need for a CPA(*2), which is a component used to check connector mating, the connectors can be mated perfectly with a single insertion, and the sound of the connector "clicking" during mating ensures complete mating, which contributes to improved airbag system performance and reliability. In addition, two types of positioning codes (CODE IV and V) are available to prevent incorrect mating in accordance with USCAR and ISO standards.
