On July 10, 1963, Akira Konishi invented a modular system specializing in the production of precision molds (full partition structure, full heat treatment, and precision machining after full hardening) in Fushimi-ku, Kyoto, and established Daiichi Seiko Co., Ltd. On February 10, 1994, I-PEX Co., Ltd. was established in Machida, Tokyo as a lineless connector supplier. I-PEX designs and sells their connectors, outsourcing manufacturing to First Seiko. I-PEX business grew rapidly and became an important customer of First Seiko. I-PEX's first commercial success was the development of the CABLINE series of extremely thin coaxial connectors. These connectors were quickly adopted by most notebook computer and monitor manufacturers, achieving very high sales and the success of I-PEX and Daiichi Seiko. At the beginning of 2000, the project to integrate domestic group companies was launched. Daiichi Seiko Co., Ltd. and I-PEX are two separate companies. In order to quickly respond to changing market trends and enhance competitiveness, I-PEX and Daiichi Seiko merged into one company. In July 2004, Japan's Daiichi Seiko Co., Ltd. merged with I-PEX to form Daiichi Seiko Co., Ltd., becoming a comprehensive enterprise focused on connector production. Through this merger, I-PEX Company gained momentum for further development and was listed on the JASDAQ Stock Exchange in 2006 and the Tokyo Stock Exchange in 2011.
