FPC connector is a very common connector, which is usually used to connect flexible circuit board (FPC) and circuit board. It has the characteristics of light weight, small size, good flexibility and so on. In FPC connectors, we often hear the concepts of "up" and "down". What is the difference between them? Next, we will introduce their differences in terms of structure, usage scenarios, advantages and disadvantages. Structural differences The main difference between the upper and lower connections of FPC connectors is their structural design. The connection structure of the FPC connector is that the fixed seat is separated from the upper connector, so the flexible circuit board needs to be inserted along the direction of the upper connector. The connection mode is similar to pressing the flexible circuit board into the slot. After connection, the flexible circuit board connected to the FPC connector will cling to the upper part of the connector, so the height of the connector is required. The downward connection structure of the FPC connector is a design that the fixed seat is separated from the lower connector, the flexible circuit board needs to enter from the bottom, the connection mode is similar to inserting the flexible circuit board into a small socket, and after connection, the flexible circuit board of the downward connection of the FPC connector will extend from the bottom of the connector. The usage scenarios are different for the upper and lower connections of the FPC connector. The use scenario of FPC connector usually requires certain requirements for the height of the connector, so it is usually used in places where the height of electronic equipment is limited, such as notebook computers. The FPC connector has a wide range of usage scenarios, which can be used in various devices that need to connect to FPC, such as smart phones, digital cameras, televisions, audio and so on. Advantages and Disadvantages The advantages and disadvantages of the upper and lower connections of the FPC connector are also different. The upper connection of the FPC connector has the advantages that as the flexible circuit board is connected to the upper part of the connector, the thickness of the connector can be thinner, and the connector can be suitable for occasions with limited height; and meanwhile, as the plugging times are less, the plugging performance is relatively better. However, the disadvantage of the FPC connector is that it is necessary to ensure that the flexible circuit board is fully inserted into the connector during insertion. If the flexible circuit board is not inserted in place, the connection effect will be affected, and the height of the connector is required. The downward connection of the FPC connector has the advantages that a thicker flexible circuit board can be connected, the thickness of the connector can be larger, the insertion is more convenient, the connector can be extended freely, and the height of the connector does not need to be considered.
