AI technology is continuously extending from traditional data centers and AI servers to AI PCs, intelligent terminals, intelligent vision, robots, AR/VR, and high-speed display devices. Whether it is high-speed data processing within servers or data exchange between cameras, displays, and main control chips in terminal devices, both require higher internal high-speed interconnectivity. At the same time, AI devices are constantly pursuing slimming down, miniaturization, and high integration, making the internal wiring space increasingly limited. The extremely thin coaxial cable bundle, with its smaller cable size, better high-speed signal transmission capabilities, and higher wiring flexibility, has continuous growing application opportunities in internal connections of high-speed electronic devices. I-PEX CABLINE®-CAL is a 0.4mm Pitch horizontal mating type ultra-thin coaxial connection solution developed for such needs, with a mating height of 0.73±0.07mm, up to a maximum of 0.80mm, and supporting 30Pin and 40Pin specifications. The official also provides a reference transmission capability of 40Gbps/lane PAM3.

From the application end, extremely fine coaxial cable bundles are not limited to a single type of AI device. The official high-speed reference test of CABLINE®-CAL uses AWG#40 Micro-Coax, 45Ω, 100mm, and GSSGSSG Pin Assignment, and lists high-speed applications such as USB4 Gen4 and Thunderbolt 5 as reference standards, making it an important reference for the design of Micro-Coax internal connections in high-speed devices. It should be noted that these are reference test conditions for the connector platform and do not equate to the actual wire specifications of each specific cable model.

This product focuses on the I-PEX 83002-100B-01-D, which belongs to the CABLINE®-CAL 40Pin ultra-thin coaxial cable assembly. The official model information indicates it as 40Pin Micro-Coaxial, 40AWG, L=200mm, 1-1. The specific engineering drawings use 40 AWG#40 Micro-Coax, with a specific wire material impedance of 50Ω, a nominal length of 200mm, and features both ends with connectors and a 1-1 straight-through wire sequence. The connector type used at the wire material end is 20777-040T-01, i.e., CABLINE®-CAL 40Pin Plug Housing; it is also paired with 40Pin Shell 3298-0401, Lock Bar 3300-0401, and corresponds to the Device End Receptacle 20729-040E-02. If the customer needs to perform a compatibility replacement for I-PEX 83002-100B-01-D, it is recommended that the engineering department first confirm the CABLINE®-CAL connector structure with a 40Pin, 0.4mm pitch, and the 20777-040T-01 wire end connector, and confirm that the Micro-Coax used is AWG#40. At the same time, it is also necessary to check the wire length of 200mm, 1-1 line sequence, and the original design impedance requirements. It should be especially noted that the high-speed reference test conditions on the CABLINE®-CAL official page are AWG#40, 45Ω, 100mm, while the specific engineering drawings for this 83002 use AWG#40, 50Ω, 200mm. Therefore, the replacement development should be based on the customer's actual drawings, original samples, and target equipment SI requirements. The procurement side should focus on connector matching, wire consistency, impedance control, termination process, length tolerance, batch stability, and reliability verification capabilities, and cannot simply judge that it can be directly replaced based on "the same number of Pins, the same AWG".
